Back-To-School Supplies

Starting a new school year may be a thrill of many kids, however it can also cause anxiety and stress for families when they are faced with the expense of buying new clothes, shoes, and other supplies. Many families struggle with paying for the items, clothing, and school supplies that their children need, and many kids unfortunately go without basic back-to-school necessities.

By doing kettles in the Summer, we provide 600 backpacks filled with school supplies to children. With a Washington Foundation Grant, we take 100 teens shopping for back to school clothing and the teens can spend up to $100 each.

Christmas Assistance

The "miracle" of Christmas is repeated over and over again through the joy of caring and sharing and The Salvation Army endeavors to bring spiritual light and love to those it serves at Christmas so that the real meaning of the season is not forgotten. Among the many and varied services and programs provided by The Salvation Army, those that particularly bring joy at Christmas are the Adopt-a-Family/Senior, Angel Tree and Holiday Food Baskets programs. Together, these programs help to ensure that hundreds of lower-income families in our community have an opportunity to receive gifts, have gifts for their children and funds to purchase food for a Christmas dinner celebration.

Through food drives and donations, we are able to provide 575 families with a Christmas dinner. Through angel trees, Adopt-a-Family and Toys for Tots, we provide Christmas toys to over 500 families.
